elena degel
Elena Degel (she/her) is a PhD candidate in Depth Psychology with specialization in Community, Liberation, Indigenous, and Eco-Psychologies at Pacifica Graduate Institute. She lives in Seattle on the unceded lands of the Duwamish, Stillaguamish, Squamish, Muckleshoot, and Coast Salish peoples. Elena identifies as a white, queer, chronically ill woman, a Gemini sun/Aries moon/Scorpio rising, and a curious, playful dreamer and collector of stories. Her scholarship delves into embodied experiences of Long Covid, tracing the entanglements of gender, chronic illness, and necropolitics through a phenomenological lens and creative poetic expression. She assists in a guardianship and trust law practice serving disabled clients and is part of a local mutual care collective. When not reading or writing, she enjoys being a homebody with her partner, cat, and dog, taking walks along the Puget Sound, traveling, and seeing live music and comedy shows.
